Five Minutes to Myself.......

.......so I bought a ticket to go and see Esme from Sewing Bee. She was giving a talk at our little local festival (a spin-off from the Edinburgh Fringe which started last weekend too)in a big top tent which looked glorious against the clearest azure-blue sky. It was another hot day but bearable with a lovely refreshing breeze coming off the sea. I'm not very good in the heat, as I've stated on more than one occasion here but I'm more than willing to put up with it for the time being, considering what the alternative is going to be - least said about that right now, the better. Anyhoo, back to Esme. She was very entertaining (even with a fractured arm!) and she's had such an interesting life too which you can read all about in her new book - I've ordered it from the library, cheapskate that I am but you could part with £20 today and buy it then and there. I'm not sure of the dates and locations of Esme's book tour but if she lands in your part of the world and you're a fan of the Sewing Bee, I'd definitely take the chance to go and see her. Glad I did.
Blogger is playing up. I can't seem to get my paragraphs to stay separated nor be able to upload a header pic. Sigh.....maybe next time. See you soon. xx

    1. Thank you Meredith. It was a chance too good to miss and I had no excuses to give since it was only 20 minutes from home. x

  2. Looks fun, I thought you must have gone to see the next series being made. Might get it from the library myself. Heat down south is scheduled to reach 35 in next few days, wishing we lived in your neck of the woods at the mo!

    1. Thanks Pal. Today's meant to be scorchio. I managed yesterday but only because we had a picnic on the beach afterwards. Lovely coastal breeze. x

  3. Lucky you, I love Esme! I wonder what she did to her wrist, poor love. I bet she'd led an interesting life. I struggle with biographies but maybe if I wait long enough it might turn up in the chazza.
I absolutely love the heat, lizard that I am! I was squealing with joy when the Beeb said that the Midlands would be having 35° this week! Stay cool! xxx

    1. Thanks Vix. Apparently, she fell over and fractured her wrist. She has indeed had an interesting life and she's so droll with it. I think she was quite surprised that so many people turned out to see her - the big top was packed (Texas played there on Saturday night, an absolute coup for our tiny parochial county!).I'm the complete opposite to you concerning the heat!

    1. Thank you, Libs. We're surrounded by beaches here. Hard to pick which one to visit but we have our favourites. The downside is that in its infinite wisdom, our local council introduced parking charges last year, which aren't a lot but if you use the beach everyday in summer (we've been known to frequent the seaside even on a cold winter's day!), it soon mounts up. We were lucky yesterday because a very nice young man gave us his parking ticket (it lasts all day) as he was leaving. I offered him the money to get ice lollies for his kids but he wouldn't take it. That was a lovely start to the day!

  6. That sounds very fun, Annie! I should watch it, but now I got rid of Netflix so maybe I won't be able to. Hmmmmm. I hope you are holding up well in the heat!

    1. Thanks K. I hope you had fun at your Mom's. Not sure whether you'd get 'Sewing Bee' on Netflix. Perhaps Britbox or similar?x
