I've found a favourite spot in my tiny sitting room. It's on the sofa next to the window. There's a large dent in the sofa, made by my ever-expanding posterior and by my penchant of sitting in my favourite spot for the best part of two weeks now. I'm finding it hard to focus on much apart from getting up to put the kettle on and running up and downstairs to the loo when my new hobby of drinking far too much tea catches up with my bladder.
I'm trying to put some structure into my day but mainly I'm enjoying just drifting through the day until bedtime when I can retire with my book into my other favourite spot, my bed. I have a gazillion things I 'ought' to be doing but so far the enthusiasm for anything more than dipping biscuits in my tea has sadly escaped me for the time being. Maybe tomorrow.

It's not all been doom and gloom. I've also been entertaining myself by keeping in touch with my nearest and dearest on FB, videochatting, texting and phonecalls and reading all my favourite peoples' blogs who have come out to 'play' in an amazing flurry of activitiy not seen for a good many years in Blogland. It's whiled away many a happy hour or two, reading all about how everyone is coping with our new situation and giving me hope, sitting here on my sofa.

Before I escaped had to pack up work for the lockdown period, I had a little tidy up of some of my boss's bedroom cupboards while she was away on her annual ski-ing holiday. I found some interesting things....
These are all dresses belonging to my boss from her 70's university days. The third pic is a handmade skirt, probably made by my boss herself but the rest are shop bought, not sure from where apart from the Laura Ashley number but more than likely somewhere down the King's Road, Chelsea. If anyone can shed some light, would love to hear about these beautiful (and very small sized) dresses. They're all beautifully and lovingly wrapped up in acid-free tissue paper now and will go up in the attic when (if) I return to work.
It's been lovely weather this weekend and a chance to catch up with some long-needed garden tidying, once I'd prised myself from the dent in the sofa. I haven't got any seeds to sow this year but a local garden centre are still offering home deliveries so might resort to that, along with another bag of compost, to get me going. Finally, my pretty little Azalea has decided to flower after lying dormant for almost two years. I've placed it in a perfect vantage point from my kitchen window, for when I'm filling my kettle for the hundreth time time in a day!!

In other news, the baby is flourishing and his little chubby cheeks fill me with joy when his Mummy sends me pics alongwith a daily report on his progress. He's already outgrown all his first size things. I'm really beginning to miss not being able to jump in the car and running to help, especially with the weather being perfect for pushing a pram along, with a tiny little bundle inside. At this rate, he'll probably be in his stroller before I get that chance!
It's great videochatting with the two little misses in my life too and wonderful to be able to help with their homeschooling homework when they want their spelling checked. Makes me feel useful!

I hope you are all remaining fit, safe and well and I'm grateful if you've read this far and for your lovely comments on my boring witterings.

You're all remarkable people

Those dresses make my heart beat a little bit faster. I'd kill for all of them! Vintage Laura Ashley is having a moment, even some of the hideous Princess Di 1980s ones. The prarie dress at the top would fetch between £100 - £150 of it was on eBay. The green one needs to be in my wardrobe, it's based on an Afghan nomad dress but the high neckline would be a nod to Western fashion.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your azalea has revived, how rewarding.
Glad all's well in your world! xxx
Knew you would come up trumps!!I love the green one especially. It's got the most beautiful orange velvet binding. Do you recognise the label on the other one? Thanks for passing by, Vix.xxx
DeleteI think "Regamus" would have been the name of the boutique the dress would have been sold in, the dress would have been ordered from a factory and the label added on request. xxx
DeleteAh yes, of course. It looks similar to the old 'Bus Stop' label. I worked in their shop in Edinburgh for a while to get the staff discount off the crushed velvet skirts and dresses I used to wear but left after a short time because all the other shop assistants were so glam, cool and trendy!
DeleteWorked in 'Bus Stop' I meant!
DeleteI know just what you mean. Lots of hot drinks and lots of sitting on the sofa.
ReplyDeleteThose dresses are so cute! Oh my! I remember those days of flouncy cotton dresses. My bridesmaids had to wear quite unflattering dresses because of the prairie look. I feel bad about that now!
I SO wanted to bake chocolate chip cookies today, but we'll have treats for Easter, so I'll hold off.
Oh, the delicious little grandbaby! He's so gorgeous! Sending lots of love to you!
You haven't seen my sister's wedding photo! She made me wear the prairie dress of all prairie dresses as her bridesmaid!!It was a Laura Ashley and I loved flouncing around in it on the day. In fact, she had to elbow me out of the way once or twice and say 'Excuse me, but I'M THE BRIDE'!! Thanks so much for popping in dearest Pom.xxx
DeleteYour azalea is looking very pretty Anne. Gosh those dresses are amazing - beautiful fabrics too! So pleased to read the new little baby boy is doing so well. Take care my friend xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Julie. Yes, the cotton used to make the dresses is really great quality. Take care of you and yours.xxx
