...how is yours going. We're well into Week 2 Lockdown here in the UK and the reality of it all will have certainly kicked in by now, while everyone establishes their own strategies and patterns on how to deal with this enforced constraint to 'normal', everyday life which perhaps we all too easily took for granted. I honestly never knew that this dystopian nightmare could become a reality in our brave new world but here we are so nothing for it but to get on with it as best we can.
Trying to establish routine and structure into days which would normally be mapped out to the last minute has been extremely EASY! There is no routine and structure!!

I've cooked a couple of nice quiches with the eggs from work using roasted sweet potato, spinach, courgettes and mushrooms and one with just cheese and tomato, which may or may not look a little overdone but tasted great nevertheless.
Enjoyed a spot of early morning bird-watching.
Finished a cosy crocheted blanket for the new baby.....
We have a little village shop which has been recently taken over and they sell some nice things!!Part of my five-a-day!I walk to the shop everyday as part of my 'once-a-day' walk now, taking the long way round. Luckily the weather has been decent this week and it's been great to get outside and do some gardening, not too much though, I'm pacing myself!
I was too late in taking my library books back to the library before it closed for the time being, although they were not overdue and no fines will be imposed when the library re-opens so can read at my leisure. I've never been a great fan of murder/mystery but I must say, I'm really enjoying the Harlan Coben.
I mentioned this set of utility drawers in a comment on Vintage Vix's blog the other day and she said she'd like to see them (there's a joke in there somewhere!). My Ma bought these about 60 years ago, along with the matching wardrobe and dressing table, which have subsequently been repurposed throughout the rest of the family a long time ago. Anyway, Mum ended up painting the whole lot with white gloss paint - long before upcycling and chalk paint were even dreamt up - and gave the drawers to my sister when she set up home a few years ago. My sister then set about removing the white paint and restoring them back to their original state - it was a really tough job, as you can see if you look really closely, there's still some leftover paint showing!. Then, my sister asked me to swap with her for the antique dressing table I had at the time, which went well in her bedroom. I agreed but my sister made the proviso that I did NOT paint the utility drawers, ever and with that in mind, here they sit in my own bedroom, almost as fresh and solid as the day my Ma bought them. I have mismatched furniture in my bedroom but I can't bear to part with anything I have in there because everything has a story and I'm comfortable with that. I'm desperate for a brand new bed though and would love a French-style type, like the one Vix has in her bedroom but that will have to wait and good job too, otherwise I just might not get out of bed at all!!
I'm very attached to my Biba print too, though it's beginning to show a little lacklustre but I don't mind that.
So here's a little Spring bouquet for you in these very strange times. I hope you are all keeping safe and well and also keeping in touch with your loved ones regularly. Not that there's an upside to all of this but I like the extra communication that I've been receiving from my nearest and dearest, when 'normally' they're all so busy with their own lives but now they have time for videochatting and calling and texting, all of which is keeping my head above this murky water.Keep washing your hands and adhering to all the good advice that's being issued and hopefully, 'normal' life will resume as soon as is healthily possible.
xoxoxo
How are you all coping?
xoxoxoxo
Take care folks.

ps I'm having a little trouble with the width of my pics. Not sure if it's just Blogger playing up or my uploader on my laptop.
eta - think I've fixed the pic problem now!

Thanks for showing me your drawers, they're gorgeous! I can only imagine how hard your sister worked to remove all that paint, I've stripped doors before and it nearly killed me!
ReplyDeleteLove your Biba print and your beautiful crochet and using you daily walk to go and get treats sounds like the best motivation possible.
How do you find that method wood polish? I use Lord Sheraton, it's great but the smell is a bit of acquired taste.
Enjoy your book, I've enjoyed the few Harlan Coben books I've read but I absolutely love thrillers.
Take care, stay safe! xxx
It's been a long time since I showed anyone my drawers!!! They're not as wide as the pic depicts, don't know why it came out like that, they're taller and slimmer! I like the Method stuff,it really feeds the wood and smells great too. I have beeswax polish but don't like the lingering smell in my bedroom. You could always put a few drops of essential oil, eg. lavender or bergamot to take away the strong smell of the Lord Sheraton stuff? Thanks for passing by, Vix.xxx
DeleteYour quiches look delicious Anne & make me want to reach into my screen & try a little taste test!! That blanket turned out adorable - how special. I am pleased to read the new baby is thriving. Yes its a tricky old time but I think I am finding a bit of a rhythm now ... this is helped by the fact we are having the most beautiful autumn days here. So I get outside in the mornings & then create inside in the afternoons. Take care my friend - sending you a virtual hug from a social distance xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie. Hugs right back 'atcha!xxx
DeleteYou are definitely keeping busy! Good for you! My life hasn't changed at all except that now I pickup my groceries at Walmart instead of going inside. Being retired and reclusive....everyone is now living MY normal! LOL! I am not a social butterfly though so it's okay for me but maybe not others. Your quiches looked so good! I usually only make spinach but I need to venture out a bit more with ingredients.
ReplyDeleteI love your blankets and the Tree of Life pattern is gorgeous. Take care and stay well!
I like that everyone is living your 'normal' life and if the truth be told, apart from missing my nearest and dearest, I'm quite enjoying having the pressure taken off from work and other commitments. Thanks for popping in, Good Lady.x
DeleteThat blanket is gorgeous, but the baby inside is even more gorgeous! Hope you and all your family stay safe. I enjoyed reading about all your various activities and the pictures. Very similar to my life, except that I don't knit anything.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sens. I'm glad you passed by. Keep safe too.x
