The Longest Month.....

....or so everyone seems to say. Personally, January always goes by in a flash for me (except, of course, when I'm awaiting payday!).  My Mum celebrated her 89th birthday at the beginning of the month then another birthday celebration was honoured when my beautiful, clever and ever-so-caring eldest Granddaughter turned 11 (High School next year, how did that happen?) then the next day, yet another birthday rolled around for me but let's not talk about that, except to say I received some really lovely cards as well as some really beautiful flowers in the post, which are still going strong and smell divine.
From my eldest son and his wife.

Thank You Best Blogging Buddy Betty!

January days out were sunny, if a little windy at times but as long as the sun was shining, I wasn't complaining.

It turned out to be a really nice day out last week when I ventured 'out of my comfort zone' and took the bus into the big city (Edinburgh). I went to meet my artist friend who totally surprised me by birthday-gifting me one of his little paintings which had recently been hanging in the Scottish National Gallery as part of his exhibition during December/January.
It looks lovely hanging in my living room now (the smaller painting at the top). Lucky me!

January was also 'marmalade-making time'

 Lots of chopping is involved.
Lots of boiling too
but the end result is always so worth it.
There's not much I get right in my wonky old life but I sure can make some fine marmalade (modesty aside!).

My Poinsettia is still going strong. This colour was a nice change this year.

I started another little cardi for the impending baby (only weeks left to wait, excited? Much!).

Snowdrops are making their pretty little shows hither and thither in the garden. I won't show you the rest of it, there's a LOT of work to be done when the better days roll around.

So that was my January.
How was it for you?

  2. Hi Annie!
Those snowdrops are so lovey. We don't have them.
I love the look of all that wind! Bill hates wind but I don't mind it. We have a warm day today (70 degrees!) but tomorrow a big storm is supposed to come. Weird!
Oh, how I wish for some of that marmalade.
Postie Postman will LOVE coming to you! Start thinking of your Scottish tale so you can write it, doodle on it, and tuck it in his bag/envelope! xoxoxo
