First of all, I cut my finger.....
....so after a mercy dash to my local A&E a lovely nurse stitched me back together and I ended up wearing a rather fetching (not) large bandage on my middle finger.
Then the following week, when I went to my GP to have the stitches removed, the nurse who was removing them took my blood pressure and happened to comment that it was a bit on the high side. I forgot all about it until I went to the hospital again (I know, right) at the end of last week to have a stomach procedure (I'd tell you what it was but I can't spell it), yet another lovely nurse took my blood pressure before the procedure and remarked it was a bit on the high side but that she would take it afterwards just to make sure it had come down before I went home. Well, unfortunately, it had rocketed after that so I had to spend the next 30 minutes relaxing in the bed with a nice cuppa. Before I went home, the lovely nurse checked my blood pressure for the third time and thankfully, it had come down a little but she recommended that I go see my GP on Monday morning to discuss the results which I did so now I have one of these.......
Calming myself down by making a pumpkin or two.
Anyway, if you've read this far and you're not thinking to yourself 'when will there be good news'? thanks so much and Happy Halloween to you, if that's your bag.
Ouch! Your poor finger.
ReplyDeleteWhen he turned 50 Jon persuaded his best mate to get a free over 50 health check at the doctor's as we'd just done the same. The results came back that he'd got dangerously high blood pressure - he'd no idea of any family history as he'd been adopted as a baby. With a few tweaks to his diet (cutting his booze intake by three-quarters) and medication it came down to a normal level and has stayed the same for over three and a half years. Hope you get sorted as easily. He was scared, too! xxx
Thank you Vix. My doc says I'm doing all the right things with not smoking or drinking and a reasonably healthy diet. Stress avoidance is my main aim. xxx
DeleteOh dear, Nana. Hope your blood pressure settles down. Was the stomach procedure a Gastroscopy? I had one earlier this year and was so relieved to find out I didn't have an ulcer or a hernia. I so get that you want to live to a very old age! Unfortunately my mother died at 63, but my father did live a lot longer, 81. Lovely to hear that you have another grandchild due! If I were to live to see a grand-daughter married, I would likely be about 95, as young people marry later these days more likely over 100!
ReplyDeleteOne point, though, there is much better medication available these days for high blood pressure, more sensitive, less invasive, more effective. Nearly everyone I know is on some form or other, and lead happy and fulfilled lives!
Thanks Sens. Reassuring to know about meds. I'll find out tomorrow if they're necessary.
