Tales from the Postbox II

So sorry if Jolly's absence has caused you to worry but he's been a bit busy since he got here.

Firstly, we took a trip out to the local library which has finally re-opened after quite a few months of 'Covid Closure'. It was so nice to see some familiar faces and we spent more time chatting than browsing the shelves.
Not everyone was up for so much chit-chat, preferring instead to go looking for some books on philately which is an obvious choice for a Postman! Unfortunately the library was all out of that particular subject but the nice librarian promised to get some in for Jolly's next visit.

Jolly was persuaded to try a little crime novel or two but he declined. Just wasn't his bag, he said, as he shuffled off to the 'romance' section.
We found a book recommendation for our friend, Pom.

On the way out of the library, we passed a local hostelry and since Jolly was quite parched, we stopped for a lovely coffee and scone, with jam and cream this time because he's acquired quite a taste for them!

Jolly wanted to stop and admire the huge bales of hay in the newly harvested fields nearby and take in some of the autumnal hues.

Then it was on to a rather swanky garden centre where he found the perfect parking spot for himself while I went in search of some potting compost and a look around at the very expensive garden ornaments and pots.

We found a wishing well and he nearly fell in, so eager was he to make a wish (you can have a good guess what he wished for!).

Once inside, we discovered the most interesting garden twine in pretty colours so I bought a pink roll to crochet a couple of plant holders, though it's quite tough on the old fingers to work with.

Jolly found a tractor which was the perfect size for him, though he would have had to do a 'Fred Flintstone' to make it work. Luckily, it turned out to be a bottle opener so not much good for gadding about the countryside after all!

Found a couple of nice things in the garden centre shop to put on my Xmas Wishlist

Jolly was rather taken with this hare cushion.

and of course, everyone loves a Highland Cow!

Then it was time to stop and admire more haybales, round ones this time!

before we hit the open road and homeward bound for tea.

  1. Jolly's having a high old time in your gorgeous part of the world. The tractor suits him, maybe he could become a gentleman farmer when he retires.
Loving the look of that hot pink twine. xxx
