Royal Mail have obviously had their work cut out during the pandemic and so much so that there's obviously flotsam and jetsam floating around the stratosphere looking for a mailbox. My particular stray mail found its home this week with nearly every day heralding yet another card or parcel tumbling through the letterbox and landing with a thump on the doormat. Firstly, there was this lovely parcel from my bestie in New Zealand which included, amongst other lovely Kiwi stuff, a lovely calendar (people always used to ask us if we were sisters and she always refers to me as a 'sister from another mister' and it's quite nice having 3 sisters!) and some NZ breakfast tea (not sure how that got past customs but less said the better) but if you're anyting like me, tea is not just for breakfast, it's entirely drinkable at any old time.....milk, no sugar for me, thanks.
Then a couple of cards arrived from Cambridge and Edinburgh and one from my neighbour across the road which she popped through my letterbox late one evening this week!
Then last but not least, this lovely vintage card came from my longtime but-no-longer-blogging friend in Utah. Thanks Camille.
I've kept the cards up for this week but will take them down tomorrow and turn them into gift tags next time the Gorgeous Granddaughters come a-visiting but I couldn't hazard a guess as to when that will be!

Mum and me had a nice afternoon tea yesterday for her birthday, complete with cake and the day was dotted with interruptions from the flower delivery men and phone calls from her other daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and neighbours leaving cards and presents on the doorstep for her so it turned out alright in the end. She gets her jab on Tuesday and at first, she was very sceptical about having it but now that she's gone around the sun one more time, I think she'd like to keep going so off she'll quite happily toddle, fingers crossed!

Have a good weekend, everyone and thanks for popping in and leaving your cheery comments.
I appreciate them all.

Keep safe and keep well

Twinings tea is lovely Anne - I'm sure you will enjoy it. I posted a candle order to Australia & it took a month to get there - I think its pretty slow no matter where its going at the moment. So glad you could spend time with your Mum on her birthday - how special. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie. Yes you're right about the mail being slow everywhere.Suppose we ought to be thankful it gets there at all, considering!
DeleteNice to get a few late pressies when you think it's all over :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Betty. Even better to get early pressies from best blogging buddies!!!xxx
DeleteI'm so glad that your Mum's lockdown landmark birthday was a good one and she was showered with pressies and love! Liz's Mum is beside herself with excitement over her Covid jab. She only turned 80 on 14th December and was expecting to have to wait ages.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely treats and cards. You need to drop a few hints to your Kiwi pal about Pineapple Lumps, I'm not really a sweet eater but they are seriously good! xxx
Oh, I shall mention the Pineapple Lumps next time we speak. Thanks, Vix.xxx
DeleteAwh your relationship with your mum and siblings sounds like my own. I helped my mum celebrate her birthday in lockdown. She not 90 yet but getting there. She’ll be 89 this year. Fingers crossed that the jabs do the trick.
ReplyDeleteSome of my parcels and cards haven’t reached their destinations yet. Isn’t it frustrating. Especially when you’ve chosen things specially for folk.
Have a lovely Sunday. Stay safe and well xx
Thanks Lynn. My eldest says his Nana is an immortal legend! Hopefully your Mum will have a proper celebration, come her birthday. Stay safe and well too.xxx
