....a leisurely drive past some freshly-combined fields with their neatly arranged rolls of hay
takes me to one of my local garden centres set within the grounds of a ruined castle.
(it's only taken me 6 months to work out how to make a collage with the pics I take on my phone - apologies if some of them look a tad repitive, I'm sure I'll get better at it with practise!)
I loved the colours of the Heuchera and the Alstromeria. I may have to re-structure my garden to accommodate more planting but the result looks oh-so-worth it. This is a selection of what I would like to plant up for next year.
My Mum's collection of Houseleeks - obsessed, just a little, they're everywhere but she likes to dish them out to anyone who'll have them so I always end up with another 2 or 3 to add to my collection.
She says she doesn't give her plants and shrubs any particular care or attention but I have a feeling she feeds them now and again! Just look at the size of those Nasturtiums!
I didn't buy any plants at the garden centre, apart from this little Aloe Vera for my kitchen windowsill but I do have my eye on the decorous obelisk thingy. I'll have to factor it into my budget for my 'restructuring of the garden'.
More Heuchera, different colours and pretty flowers.
Can't remember what this one was called but I liked the foliage.
I loved the flower spikes on this one.
More Houseleeks, this time on my windowsill!
I love this time of year when all my trees are in bloom and the garden is filled with colour (not to mention the privacy screening they provide).
My Kilmarnock Willow never fails to please.
Nor does this fabulous Salmon Pink Geranium, which was a cutting that I grew at my previous employment - did I mention I was retired now??! It gleams in the sun.
No gardening today though, it's never stopped raining all day!
Time to catch up with somerubbish educational tv. I am now on first name terms with all the real estate agents in 'Million Dollar Listing' and could probably sell you a penthouse on the Upper East Side of New York City for the bargain price of 6.5 million dollars or point you in the direction of the best places to shop in Beverley Hills, courtesy of those 'Real Housewives' who reputedly live there!! ('She needs to get a life' I hear you all collectively thinking!).

How was your weekend? Hope the sun shone for you.

Thanks for visiting and thanks for leaving your sweet comments last time.
I cherish each and every one.

Can see you are relishing your retirement and why not, you earned it! The plants all look interesting, aloe vera always dies on me when I buy a pot. Hope you are putting your feet up a lot, enjoying lazy days and not planning to do anything other than enjoy your new found me time.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pal. Yes, I think being furloughed for months beforehand has eased me into my retirement quite nicely! Lots I could/should be doing but time's on my side now so no rush. xxx
DeleteA garden centre in the grounds of a castle? How fabulous is that?
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your collages, you're putting your retirement to good use already by learning new skills.
Your garden and your windowsill look wonderful. I watched Beechgrove on your recommendation this week, what a lovely bunch of people! xxx
Thank you Vix. Yes, Beechgrove is a nice little programme. Sometimes Chris Beardshaw makes an appearance but we haven't been lucky enough to receive a visit from Monty yet. Stranger things have happened! xxx
DeleteI think I would love to walk around that garden center, ares are simply in huge stores that have tons of hardware and toilets and stuff like that. So glad you are feeling better and are enjoying your retirement. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting, Mer. We have garden centres like that too but luckily, my local ones are all quite rurally located and in nicer locations! Hope you're all staying safe and well too.xxx
DeleteOur garden centers don't have much this time of year. Although, there is one I haven't visited. It might be better. Real estate prices vary greatly according to the scarcity of housing in certain USA cities. You would be a GREAT real estate agent. Ever thought about it? My mom got her license right when I went to college and she LOVED selling houses because she loves houses. Have a great week, dear Annie. Oh! I have a great idea (funny) for Jolly. I'll message you about it on FB. xo
ReplyDeleteI love your USA 'fixer upper' programmes and at the moment, I'm ashamed to admit that I'm addicted to 'Million Dollar Listings', especially the ones in New York. Looking forward to Jolly's visit!xxx
