.......for the last 60 or so days has been my home while I've had and been recuperating from the dreaded virus. Most of April, the whole of the month of May and now part of June has been spent either within the confines of my bedroom or on the sofa and as my energy levels returned, albeit not quite to 100% as we speak, my postage stamp-sized garden has been my haven. As well as the floral displays outside, I've been the lucky recipient of some beautiful bouquets from some very kind folks who have sent them my way and served to cheer me up on some of the more dismally low days.
My son and daughter-in-law sent these big and blousy Pink Peonies which are just coming into bloom now and which have the most delicious aroma.
Then another delightful floral surprise arrived from my friend Betty. You can't see it from here but it included some really lovely Alstromeria which are still going strong! Thanks so much Betty.
My Mum visited one day and adhering to social distancing rules, left these pretty Carnations outside on my garden table for me. It was weird not being able to have her come into my house.
This is a Peony in my garden which must be at least 25 years old. I brought it from my old house and replanted it here about 15 years ago! Some Oxalis daisy which grows at my back door and which absolutely burst into life in the bright sunshine.
My neighbour gave me a couple of these Fuschia plants in pots and they're putting on a fabulous show now.
My Gorgeous Grandaughters sent me this delightful keyring in the post.
More of the Peony bouquet. I'm trying to keep them in the coldest part of the house to make them last as long as possible.
I only planted this twisted Hazel tree a couple of years ago but it obviously likes its spot in the garden because it seems to be thriving.
I've had this old bird bath for a few decades now and every year I vow to re-tile it and bring it back to life. Maybe this year I will!
I planted this bamboo last year but may have to move it to give it more room to grow.
Isn't it nice to get 'real' mail through the letterbox. This is a recent selection, including a postcard from my new Grandson who I haven't been able to 'meet' yet but I'm hoping to remedy that soon. He's 3 months old now and is totally unaware of my existence. Can't quite get my head around that.

Anyway, there you have it. Not as much to report as I would have hoped. I had such plans at the beginning of lockdown until disaster struck and although I've been furloughed from work, haven't had much opportunity to utiise my 'free' time! I have been able to visit and enjoy all my favourite blogs though so thank you so much for sharing your 'lockdown diaries'. They've become an invaluable part of my days.

Looking forward to Sewing Bee tonight!

Keep safe and well, y'all!

I'm so sorry you had the virus and very happy that you have recovered. Hope you are back to 100 percent soon and can see that new grandbaby before too long!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jan. I'm so looking forward to seeing him, hopefully sooner rather than later!!
DeleteGosh Anne - I am SO so sorry to read you had the virus my friend. Thats just awful. I am pleased you seem to be on the mend now though. I think once you see that new wee grandson you will feel so much better. Your flowers are all just beautiful. Take care dear Anne. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie. My hands are itching to hold him and he's such a cutie with a really kissable chubby little face!!Can't wait.xxx
DeleteSo sorry to hear that you have had this virus. Your 60 day ordeal sounds awful, but how lovely to receive so many beautiful flowers and a visit from your own mum! Your garden looks amazing. Take care, rest plenty, hope you are fully back to normal soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Sens. Thanks for calling in. At the beginning of the viral cycle, I remember seeing a lady on tv who was recovering also and she remarked that she was now on her 60th day and I thought 'you've got to be kidding if it lasts that long'!! The first few weeks are just a blur now, mainly slept the days away but been able to stay upright for the best part of 10 days now so that's a bonus!xxx
Deletemy tablet doesn't always send my comments so possible duplicate but so glad you are up and about a bit and that you are enjoying the garden - get those seeds planted! Hope you will soon be able to get to see the family.
ReplyDeleteSeeds are in this morning! It was lashing here yesterday so no opportunity for gardening. All change today though.xxx
DeleteDear Anne..I echo what all the others say...take care x
ReplyDeleteIt's so great to 'see' you hear Libby and I hope this finds you happy, safe and well. Drop me a line. I'd love to hear about the grandkids.xxx
DeleteI'm so sorry you've had that horrible virus, it's taken the people I know who've also had it absolutely ages to recover from it, it's an evil thing and thank goodness you're on the mend now.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful, how loved you are. Your gardne, tiny or not, is gorgeous. Love the bird bath and the cat statue and keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be too long before you hug the family! xxx
The cat's in a handbag! I must take a proper pic and you can see it better, when the weather clears up. It's been awful here today. Quite chuffed with how the garden's turned out this year, considering it's had minimal upkeep, what with one thing and another. Thanks for popping in, Vix.xx
DeleteI had no idea you were ill, absolutely no idea. I am so sorry as I could have been bugging you and sending you positive thoughts for healing. I am a firm believer in thoughts and prayers sent across the ocean to friends in need. I am so sorry you have been so ill, but glad you are starting to feel better. I am sure those beautiful flowers have helped, and the love of your family and friends. So now you are being sent a giant hug of friendship, can you feel it?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Mer and yes, that giant hug has landed!!xxx
DeleteHello dear Annie! I didn't forget about the rhubarb butter recipe, but I just got it off of Pinterest. I thought of you stirring plum jam while I made it. I hope you are feeling better and better.
ReplyDeleteThanks dearest Pom. I'm off to have a look for recipe now. Not much jam-making going on at the mo since I'm still furloughed and not sure whether I want to go back to make any! Brain's still a bit too fuzzy to give it much thought!!xxx
