December has come and almost gone in typical warp speed fashion. It's been a whirlwind for me, that's for sure and now it's winding-down time or as I like to call it 'decompression time'!
Here are a few pics from the month.
I'm trying to get back to blogging so this is a vain attempt to kick-start the endeavour!
Hope you enjoy and hope that each and every one of you have a special Christmas time, however you may or may not celebrate and remember, never get your tinsel in a tangle!
An old blogging friend from way back in the beginning and with whom I still keep in touch (not sure but some of you may remember The Shabby Chic Bohemian?) sends me something handmade each year and this time, I received this beautiful quilted star.
Last week, I took a trip into Edinburgh to meet one of my daughters-in-law and we treated ourselves to lunch at The Scotsman Hotel's Grand Cafe. It's very opulent don't you know and a once-in-a-while treat! I'd eat there everyday if I could.
Stairway down to the 'Ladies Room'!
Another posh gaff but this time local to me. Their Christmas displays are always worth a visit.
I bought this delightful book for a certain 4yr-old who doesn't ever want to go to sleep when I'm babysitting for him (10.30pm last Saturday night before he finally gave up trying to entertain me!).
The Sagittarian moon has been spectacular these last couple of months.
Someone's sitting her Higher prelims (and doing extremely well with the results) and needs books, books, books!
Another place I visited in December with a pal was Harvey Nichols in Edinburgh. We were laughing out heads off when we discovered we were being 'shadowed ' by a very nice 'Are you being Served ' gentleman employee! Clearly, we looked nothing like your average Harvey Nicks customer, although I'd already bought a gift voucher for one daughter-in-law's birthday (at the frugal end of the scale but beautifully wrapped!).
One day I'll have my 'Pretty Woman' moment in all these places!
Trying to finish this little Frida Kat-hlo embroidery for my sister. I won't see her until Friday so there's time yet!
Leaving you with these words of wisdom! I know it would be true!
Have a jolly Holly Christmas my dear friends.
See you on the other side as the winsome Vintage Vixen says.

Have a fabulous Christmas, enjoy yourself, and laugh lots.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ang.
DeleteLovely to see your post pop up Anne & wishing you a very wonderful festive season too. Your photos are just great - its good to see life on the other side of the world where its cold as its so HOT here. x0x
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie.
ReplyDeleteYay! So pleased to see you pop up in my sidebar!
ReplyDeleteI'd be more than happy to make a veggie version of that curry, it sounds delish.
The Scotsman looks marvellously decadent and swanky. I won't mind a mooch around that Harvey Nicks, I always get followed around posh shops by security guards, I must look a bit dodgy.
Your Frida Kat-lo embroidery is absolutely gorgeous, your sister's going to be thrilled.
I hope you had an absolutely fabulous Xmas, thanks for the shout-out! Loads of love. xxx
Thanks Vicky.Always nice having lunch where the waiters call you 'Modom'!
DeleteHow lovely to see a post from you! I've been slacking lately. I love looking at fancy department stores, but like you, rarely.part with my cash! We went to see the windows and lights down London's Regent Street.
ReplyDeleteThanks pal. Sadly, not many fancy department stores left on Edinburgh. Jenners at coastline used to be spectacular. Now it's being left to languish like Miss Haversham!
DeleteMerry Christmas! I love that I've just discovered your blog! Love that Grand Cafe also. X
ReplyDeleteOooh, you posted!!!
ReplyDeleteThe quilted star is pretty!
The grand hotel sounds great! I always feel shifty in any posh shops as I inevitably don't look very neat and tidy like the average clientele!
The card made me laugh but, ooooh so true!!
Isn't it fun to just look at stuff? I used to be happy to "look" when I went grocery shopping, but now since it's legal to sell wine and beer in the grocery stores, they have shoved everything tight and reduced selection, just so they can offer more wine! They do have some lovely bottles and a huge variety, but a lot of things had to go in order to accomodate it all! As I recall, January is your birthday month, right?
