UK clocks go forward by one hour in the early hours, precipitating a lost hour during the night but an extra hour of daylight and more time to spend outdoors in the daytime, should the weather gods be kind enough to grant us clement weather.
Last night on Gardeners' World (I know there's an avid following here in Blogland), Monty set about sewing another lot of various flowers, fruit and veg. I started my horticultural efforts last week, although it was a bit too late to heed his advice about sewing carefully and not just chucking seeds in and hoping for the best. At any rate, things seem to be coming along nicely on my sunny kitchen windowsill.
I use recycled plastic food containers (of which there is far too much for my liking and I really do try to cut back on it whilst out shopping, supermarkets take note!).
I've also planted up an outside container with veg like carrots, purple sprouting broccoli, leeks, beetroot, cauliflower and turnip. There are also potatoes 'chitting' in eggboxes! Not quite sure where I'll plant everything once it all requires replanting, once they really get going but Monty says you don't need a designated veg patch, planting in your borders will equally do well so perhaps that's what I'll do eventually.

That's it for the time being. Just waiting for the temps to reach a 'workable' degree before I tackle the rest of the garden!
Thanks for popping in. So great that after almost 11 years of blogging, I'm still here thanks to all you lovely folk. I just wish we were all neighbours, everybody needs them!!
Keep safe and well everyone.
xoxoxoxo
Yay! Look at all your growings! We watched Gardener's World this morning as we tend to forget everything when we booze and watch. I did intend to sow my dahlias this morning but got distracted by leaf sweeping so that'll have to wait until tommorrow.
ReplyDeleteYou've answered my question before I was about to google - when do I plant my sunflower seeds? Obviously it's now!
I think Monty had treated himself to some new clobber, his Nehru collar wool waistcoat was very smart.
I wish we were all neighbours, too! xxx
Aw thanks Vix. My neighbour has planted her sunflower seeds in her greenhouse (fancy-pants black sunflowers this year!) so I just thought since mine were lying around, I'd get them in, now being as good a time as any! Yes, I noticed Monty had spruced himself up - even go as far as to say he'd had his 'roots' done!lol If I could have a man in my life, he would be a cross between Monty and Rick Stein!xxx
ReplyDeletewow you got a lemon to grow from seed? that's major achievement - I haven't planted peppers or chillis yet - you reminded me. I think your garden is going to have a bonanza crop this year - I have a friend who is going to RHS classes for a qualification and she is so good at growing stuff- puts me to shame, but a great sharer - she's growing my seedlings for me!
ReplyDeleteThanks Betty. Yes, I just popped the pips in some compost to see what would happen. Mind you that was last year so not much progress but then the plant has just been on the windowsill, summer and winter. If I had a greenhouse, anything's possible!Great that your friend is good at growing stuff and will share with you. New concept for me growing everything myself, remember I used to get loads from work??!!Nothing wrong with sharing!xxx
DeleteWouldn't it be so much fun if we were all neighbours Anne? Think of the fun we could have!! Everything sure IS coming to life in your seedlings - they look wonderful. We are changing from daylight savings next weekend here.
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie. Yes, life certainly would be a lot more interesting for me if we were all neighbours! xx
ReplyDeletewow your plantation is really impressive my friend !
ReplyDeleteit reminded me my late mother who used to grow lots of vegetables in her yard garden .
best of luck for the harvest that would be definitely delightful :)
thank you for kind visit and words on my blog
blessings!
Thanks sweet Baili. We shall see what happens when I replant everything. I'm waging a war on the slugs and snails this year. They ate almost everything last year!x
DeleteI have been raking, cutting things back, planting a pruning trees and shrubs for three weeks. I hope it all survives because I do not have a green thumb! Enjoy your garden and stay safe.
ReplyDeleteLol, Meredith. You're a human dynamo in everything you do! Thanks for calling in and stay safe and well too.xxx
DeleteOh, it WOULD be so fun to be neighbors! I must think about starting zinnias in the tiny peat pots for sale, lining them up on my window sills.
ReplyDeleteThanks dearest Pom. You'd be fed up with me visiting all the time!!
DeleteNo, I wouldn't! I'd love it!
DeleteWow .. well done you, growing so many things. I have a tiny garden now, and only one side of it gets any sun so all my plants are in pots. so only growing herbs now. X
ReplyDeleteThanks Libs. You can grow lots indoors on a sunny windowsill.
DeleteI'm so impressed with all the things you've grown from seed! I don't have much success with gardening so I leave it all to hub, his enthusiasm comes and goes and extends mainly to making the garden look tidy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sens. They're all sprouting forth now and I'm running out of places to plant them!! You can grow lots indoors too!xx
