UnChristmassing.......

As the sun sets on this eve of New Year's Eve 2020 it would be an understatement to say that I, alongwith a great many others no doubt, will be so glad to see the back of the old year while pondering on what the new year will bring. Personally, I'm not going to ponder too much because as the old saying goes, 'the best laid plans' and all that.

So minimal decorating happened this year, all the better for packing it all away today. I honed it all down to one large bag instead of the  higgledy-piggledy arrangement that I usually adopt and now somebody else can have what I no longer need in the way of ornaments and tinsel!

I made a little mouse for my great-niece after I saw a similar one on Pinterest. I think she turned out quite smart.

Some of us got just what we wanted from Santa and have put hours in practising!

I got lots of lovely things too and am currently delving into this favourite.

First time on a swing and he loved it!

Spending time with my grandchildren before we went on to Tier 4 at the stroke of midnight on Christmas Night was my best present. I'm not sure when I'll see them again if restrictions aren't lifted in 3 weeks' time.
At least we had time to bake our Christmas Cookies.

My neighbours put on a splendid show this year again. The street's going to look quite bleak without the light show. More neighbours than ever this year put on a dazzling display, the by-product of having lived in the midst of a pandemic for the better part of a year, no doubt.

So we put away our sequinned crowns and our party dresses until next year ........
and hope with all our hearts and minds that the dawn of New Year's morning will herald some joy, good things to look forward to and the ability to plan a bit further and a bit more exciting than the next supermarket shop.

In the meantime, I've been binge-watching the most excellent Virgin River on Netflix. Not because it's a load of cheesy, cliched, romantic nonsense with the most handsomest of main characters, ok maybe it is but I'm thoroughly enjoying it!!

Happy New Year when it rolls around, to You All.

We are lucky here & I tell myself that every single day but there are careless ones out there too & it will rear its ugly head again. (the virus that is). Your grandies are beautiful & I adore the wee pink mousie you made. I hope you have a lovely New Year my friend - that book looks a goodie. xxxx

    1. Thanks Julie. We won't win this battle against the virus until we stop all movement of people and adhere to strict lockdown measures, like you did in your country. Happy New Year.xxx

  6. Your decorations are lovely! That little mouse is so cute! Is there a pattern? I think I need one. Your grandchildren are so precious. I haven't seen mine in 2 years and I don't have any of that video chat stuff. I think I need to get that. I do talk to them daily on the phone and they email me and send me photos and videos. I have to put Barack's new book on my "to be read" list for 2021. I've read all including Michelle's...that was excellent. I have always wanted to learn to platy the piano. Maybe I could get one of those and learn online? Stay safe and stay well! Happy New Year!!!

    1. Thank you. I'll look up my Ravelry project page and see how I made it!Any connection to our grands is better than nothing. I'm lucky that one set of mine live just 10 mins away but the baby lives in another county which I'm not allowed to visit at the moment under current restrictions. His Mummy sends me loads of pics though and when my son What's App video chats with me, the baby tries to grab the phone as if he could pull me out of from the screen!! My eldest granddaughter is taking lessons on the keyboard at school and was delighted to receive her own keyboard for xmas. She was learning the trombone but (thankfully!) gave it up!
