What a wonderfully warm Easter weekend we just had, practically unknown in Scotland to have high temps in April and welcoming weather to encourage outdoor activities. I have a very small suburban garden so low-maintenance is easy since I got rid of the lawn in the back garden (not very eco-friendly, I know but easy and necessary for me in the maintenance department) and replaced it with stone chippings, in the middle of which I planted a small apple tree, some 5 years ago. It didn't do very well for apples last year but this year, it's gracing me with loads of blossom which surely is a good sign come harvest time.
Apple Blossom is so uplifting, don't you think?

My niece had a baby girl 3 weeks ago and I've been making little things for her. Baby stuff is so quick and easy and I think babies really appreciate your efforts much more than grown-ups do!!
This is a test knit that I'm doing for a designer on Ravelry for a pretty baby cardi. I'd better hurry up and get it finished before the deadline, or the baby gets too big for it. The colour in real life is much darker than the pic, a sort of deep duck egg blue, if you get my meaning!

In an effort to become more ecologically sound and use a lot less plastic, I'm practising how to crochet some of those stretchy net market bags. They hold loads of shopping. I have a black one which I bought last year but it's very boring so I'm using some nice organic cotton in cheery summery colours. This is a prototype...

Hope you're all fit and well and planning for a great Summer.
Thank You for Being Here.

Lovely to see you keeping busy with your projects dear Anne. Love your beautiful crochet so much. I think you might get lots of apples this year looking at those blossoms. I had some citrus & fruit tree food in pellet form so I tossed handfuls around my apple tree & it had loads of apples.
ReplyDeleteThank you Julie. My little apple tree is somewhat neglected the rest of the year. I may give it a feed soon.
DeleteLove the bag, brilliantly eco friendly! We have bluebells, will blog them to death soon :) your apple tree is lovely mine leans at a funny angle as too close to the fence.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pal. I seem to be reverting to my old 'hippie' ways now that I've reached my Golden Years!
